Announcement: New Zealand Weather Network

Its time to celebrate as the NZWN is now up and running.

My thanks of course go to Ken and Chris for their tireless work behind the scenes over the past couple of years, since the networks conception.


The New Zealand Weather Network (NZWN) is currently looking for members to contribute their data to the network. Our goal is to have a comprehensive view of weather conditions across NZ. If you are a personal weather station owner / operator, please let us know and we will consider adding you to our network. We are especially looking for stations in the more remote parts of our service area.

At the current time, we can pull data from users of Weather Display, WeatherLink and Virtual Weather Station. If you meet these requirements and would like to join, please take a moment to have a look at the United Kingdom Weather Network. If you are interested and upload your data 24/7, then please do get in touch.

That's great Grant! And many thanks to Ken (SaratogaWx) for making it all happen. And a new Board too just for people with Wx Stns or any that have questions and would like to own one. And thanks to Grant for hosting it, as you can see there are quite a few others around Europe and the US.

I'm really pleased to see the New Zealand weather network's new mesomap up and running. This whole regional weather network started in 2006 with Chris (SLOweather) and two other founders starting the Southwestern Weather Network. I was pleased to be invited to join as member number 7 to SWN. Over the two years, the network grew to 42 stations in California, Arizona, Nevada, Utah.

Now with New Zealand online as the fourth international network, and 8 additional regional networks in the USA, the total membership has increased to 214 stations reporting .. all in a little over a month of time.

I hope all the Kiwis enjoy the regional forum and mesomap .. I know that the folks in the Southwestern Weather Network do appreciate the camaradarie of a regional forum, and it's really sweet to be able to see the conditions across your region!
