Global Weather Network

As an extension to the NZ Weather network, we now have a Google Maps variant. You can track any station in the world that is a member of any of the Weather Networks. Of course, our map is centered on New Zealand, and if you click on the marker you can see the conditions and the sites offerings - webcam, lightning etc.

Nice work Grant - thanks. My lat/long must be good, that marker is smack bang on top of my garage

WOW! I just zoomed out because you said "Global Weather Network" - all of the US is covered in stations!! And the UK - That's why it takes so long to load!!Well done to Ken, Chris and Grant and everyone else who has had a hand in this new endeavour!!

I'm glad you like the GoogleMap Graeme! It was a fun project to rollup the data from the configs and conditions from the regional networks, do a bit of PHP grinding to make a format that GoogleMaps could use. It does create an impressive display as almost all the regional stations appear on the map (all the ones that have lat,long in the config files). Our Nordic network friends should be showing up soon.. I know that Henkka is working on getting lat,long added to the Nordicweather.net config file.

Next week, there should appear an Australian network, and an Alaska network. Also in the pipeline is a Greece network too.

Thanks again KEN! And you spend so much time helping folks on the other forum as well, not just directing them to use your php coding correctly, but doing changes and improvements to suit different "wants" from many folks. You are a legend! And I mean it...

I have today implemented the enhancement that gives coloured tags in the Google map, depending on the stations facilities ie

Alaska and Australia now have networks, so a few more google dots will be appearing.
