I am looking out the window to the north of the valley and there are grey high clouds, yesterday it was clear fine and very warm, tomorrow it will probably be raining. It is possibly snowing somewhere in Great Britain, hailing in Moscow, boiling in Jakarta or flooding in India. I can’t change any of this. No one as far as I know, has any way to change any weather in any part of the world.
The weather rules our lives in many ways, we write articles about it, have forums dedicated to it, make instruments to measure it, write books about it, sing songs about it, web sites to forecast it, talk about it, debate endlessly the trends of global warming, make movies and calendars about it and in the short term we can’t change any of it.
Cats wash behinds their ears, ants comes inside, seaweed dries up, dried cods twist and turn, pine cones swell and split and still we can’t change the weather.
We are at its mercy. Like tiny ants we scurry out of the rain into buildings. We fret, worry, gripe, praise, bask, freeze, revel, delight and ignore the weather and we can’t change any of it.
We have sunscreen lotions, anti-freeze for our cars, fashion industries dedicated to year round clothing, anti-frizz hair lotions, chilblain creams, skin moisturisers and still we can’t change the weather.
So I sit here and look out my window at the ever changing clouds that are like islands of water in a sea of air (quote from Him Indoors) and realise I can’t change the weather and would I want to?

Such a classic thought provoking muse... but we still find something interesting to talk about, to mull over, photograph and make friends who do the same!! :)

With the prospect of a good downpour or two - when I got home last night I spent the first half hour clearing the spouting, ensuring the leaf filter on the inlet to our water tank was clear, and using the leaf blower to clear the paths and carport of all the pine needles, grass cuttings and poplar leaves etc (which seem to adhere like the proverbial once they become wet).
Needless to say the rain didn't happen (at least in the amounts expected), so you see, I changed it, everyone can blame me for it not raining in Auckland! :AvatarSmileyLOL:
