Re: Sydney's Weather

Thanks for that, rainfan.Hope your head is no longer aching! LOL.
I haven't heard from my mate since he went to Sydney, so he must be buried into the place somewhere.
Weather is all over the place here, but then you are well aware of that!

Re: Sydney's Weather

Well let's just say I've gone off drinking booze for a while (probably until next weekend as have a 30th party to go to on Saturday ).

Thu: Mainly sunny with some cloud at times. Warm & dry W winds raised the temp to 30oC.

Fri: Humid and warm after some overnight showers. Sunny at first then becoming overcast before midday. Light winds at first changing to cooler SE winds. Max of 24oC

Sat: Very overcast and dull with brief midday heavy shower. Warm with moderate winds. Max of 25.

Today: After a bit of a cool night - a nice day with clear start then mainly sunny with cloudy periods especially around mid morning and late evening but quite coolish as easterlies were gusty at times. Did manage to get a walk on the beach this morning though & was nice in the sun . Max of 23 degrees.

Re: Sydney's Weather

Hi. Sorry for being so slack lately, been so busy with things etc.

Monday to Friday had quite nice weather - mostly sunny with early morning cloud especially Monday and Tuesday. Wed/Thu more sunny. Not so hot due to strong/gusty NE winds prevailing with temps around 23 - 24 degrees. Rushed to the beach after work all week til dark (literally) to take advantage of the few hours of sunshine/light left

Friday was quite humid bordering on uncomfortable at times with an evening thunderstorm which dumped torrential rain over Bondi lasting 10 minutes (I didnt need to sweep the footpath as the rainwater from overflowing gutters swept down the footpath & even gouged out some dirt on the nature strip in the front ) with plenty of thunder and lightning. Sunny til mid afternoon then clouded over. Max of 27 degrees in city & 36 in Penrith.

Yesterday (Sat) - Woke up to a rainy & wet morning, dry in the afternoon but mostly cloudy & humid. Max of 23 degrees. Not a very nice day though for mate 30th as was to be held around swimming pool but too cloudy, damp and cool so had it indoors.

Today - Mostly cloudy, warm and humid in sheltered areas of Glebe where there was a street festival with some morning brief spells of sunshine. Becoming colder & less humid in the afternoon with strong S winds developing. Much colder when got home.

We're expected to have a cloudy/wet week with showers/rain right to next Sunday.

People here are really getting fed up with the weekend weather as it's over the past few weeks been mostly sunny Mon - Fri & cloudy/cool over weekends. The most vocal are those who love going to the beach & backpackers have started arriving in droves & they are not really impressed so far.

Re: Sydney's Weather

Glad you are back on deck, mate. Missed reading your excellent posts.
Ain't that the way with weather: there ends up being a cycle of either fine weekends or wet ones for weeks!

That is baad! Reminds me of living in Ireland or the UK. Think of it as a subsitute for enjoying travel to Western Europe in these harsh economic times!

Re: Sydney's Weather

There is that!

After a coolish night with some overnight showers, this morning saw sun/cloud periods, becoming overcast during the afternoon with rain setting in about 15 minutes ago, certainly was a dark and gloomy afternoon. The NE wind was quite gusty & a bit chilly in exposed areas. 16/23 for city & 15/24 at airport.

Re: Sydney's Weather

Mostly cloudy and cool with few spells of sun. NE winds gusty at times and some morning showers. 17/21 (Airport 17/23).

Rain periods didn't eventuate as forecast, delayed to tonight/overnight with chance of thunderstorms. Bit annoying as I'd like to take some pictures of the rain, can't do that at night

Rain to 9am

City: 6.2mm
Rose Bay: 5.2mm
Airport 3.2mm

The 10.4 hr sun reading for Monday is incorrect. BOM emailed me saying should read as 1 hr 4 mins and will be amended tomorrow.

Re: Sydney's Weather

Well got woken up around midnight as could hear torrential rain pouring along with loud rumbles of thunder and heaps of lightning, stayed up for an hour watching the rain pound down with flash flooding on the street & footpaths. 29mm at Ob Hill, 20mm at Rose Bay and 27mm at airport. Good for the gardens, everything looks greener and "alive" after the deluge

More reports: Rain causes flooding across Sydney CBD and suburbs | The Daily Telegraph

Today -mixed with sun/cloud periods & few showers but very light. Temps reached 28oC (29 at airport) as the low moved further south thus causing winds to change from NE to W. Fine tomorrow before a (yes once again!) windy & cold weekend with some showers expected as the low moves east causing SW winds to change to the south.

EDIT: Just had a quite heavy shower, 5mm in 5 mins & rumbles of thunder as well
