wow! we had a whole 3mm here so far this month.

Sydney CBD only had about 50mm according to the BOM, so thats a massive difference over that tiny distance.

Re: Sydney's Weather

Yeah, 1996 was the last decent wet year in Melbourne - since then has been very dry.

Eastern suburbs of Sydney tend to receive more rain than the CBD and western suburbs - Im very glad I dont live in the western suburbs - lack of rain would ruin me big time.

Re: Sydney's Weather

Sunday 22nd April 2007.

Here at Bondi today we had 2 separate storms (with numerous thunder and lightning) with the latter being very severe in terms of intensity of rainfall :-

5pm to 6pm 34.0mm
6pm to 7pm 0.4mm
7pm to 8pm 50.0mm
8pm to 9pm 3.6mm

Making a total of 88mm that has fallen from 2 separate storms since 5pm today

Total for this month so far is 262mm.

With further showers expected until Thursday, will add a bit more to the total.

The rain during the 2nd storm was very, very intense and it thrilled me to no end with flooding everywhere, my garden got totally flooded and water running on the foot-paths were more than ankle - length deep.

Re: Sydney's Weather

Hi.

Didnt take any photos because it was too dark and the lightning was quite intense so didnt fancy getting struck as the storm was right overhead, lightning flashes were right outside the windows.

Maybe next time if there isnt so many lightning flashes.

Re: Sydney's Weather

Wow - it's been over a year since I last posted in here. How time flies so fast .

Foggy early morning clearing to sunny & dry day with moderate NE winds during the afternoon. Some high cloud streaming in from the west from mid-afternoon onwards.

Min of 12oC & max of 21oC at Ob Hill.

Highest Max metro-wide: 24oC at Airport & Olympic Park
Lowest Min metro-wide: 5oC at Badgerys

To end yesterday Ob Hill recorded 19 consecutive days of no rain. Rose Bay (nearest to where I live) has recorded just 2.2mm of rain MTD.

Figures just released states that 48.4% of NSW is in drought up from April's 42.9% - very grim news indeed.

Re: Sydney's Weather

The "rain concern" zone here has shifted to the southern lake catchments (for hydro) - other areas have recovered though parts of the eastern SI are fairly dry still.

Re: Sydney's Weather

That drought issue is quite something, for sure.Forgive my ignorance, but how does NSW situation compare with the other States?

Re: Sydney's Weather

Overnight/early light showers with falls ranging from 1-3mm over the metro-area. Mostly cloudy & cool morning with fresh NW winds, becoming sunnier & warmer during the afternoon with patches of cloud about. Mild night with min of 14oC & max of 23oC.

Several suburbs reached 23oC & lowest min temp was 10oC at various places in the west.

Forecast to be quite windy tomorrow with mild NW winds changing to colder & squally southwesterlies overnight with a cold, windy and showery day for Sunday with a expected top of just 16oC (Wind-chill will make it feel much colder).

Be very nice to see the rain once again & have some "proper" wintry weather
