Amen to that one!. I actually got banned from an immigration forum last week for posting a warning about weather conditions for the tropical depression that was expected. It was made in their own "daily weather" thread that had been running a while and did not contain any links to other websites, just stated the facts.

The storm went on to take the lives of 4 people.

Astronomy Re: Impressions of weather in other countries

Accurate information is essential. Living in another country requires a leap of faith in any case and knowing about things like the weather is vital.
Example, as rainfan says, parts of Australia are not that warm in winter. Similarly, in NZ, our houses are often poorly heated. Our winters may be a joke by UK or Irish standards but we still need proper heating.
And it can be excessively hot and dry or too humid in Summer.
Grant has alluded to his experience. Truth is, the "down under" countries can get crappy, stormy weather where lives are lost.On balance, the climate is reasonably sunny and benign but it ain't perfect!

Why would that get you banned? I just can't see the logic in banning you if you were giving a honest description of the weather even without links etc. Perhaps they want to close their eyes to hard-hitting facts?

Unhappy Re: Impressions of weather in other countries

That's sad Grant - especially when you were just trying to envelope yourself into the country's environment and culture and show a good depth of knowledge and understanding of local conditions - especially weather. And probably repeating information in your own hand, that was publicised by the Met Office and Weather-Watch Centre already - and, needless to say, also on here!

I agree. Some underlings in power are the bane of life when interfacing with the organisations.
When my daughter returned to NZ from overseas, they questioned her marriage to an Irish citizen - a chap we had known for years, as well as his family. They threatened to deport him. My daughter has dual citizenship, like me. Anyway, an evil woman in immigration told her she would have to choose which passport she was going to keep. Daughter said she would keep the Irish one. (one is allowed two passports)
Then I put the scenario to the evil pen pusher: " are you going to be the first person to ever refuse a Maori the right to enter NZ? And then appear on national TV doing so?"
End of story. You have to stand up to those sods!
But hell, they drive me up the wall!
