Rammasun - NW Pacific

Tropical Storm Forecast Tracks as of 22:03GMT on Tuesday 13th May 2008

Tropical Storms currently active:0

Rammasun:
Tropical depression Rammasun has weakened substantially over the last 2 days or so over the cooler waters of the northwest Pacific, to the southeast of Japan. At peak strength, winds of up to 149mph were reported, and gusts up to 190mph, and it reached a Category 5 Super Typhoon, making it the third most powerful typhoon to develop in May in recorded history, even though it didn’t make landfall.

Thanks for the update, Dollsworth. I guess it should be a few months before we have to worry about the risk of cyclones in our neck of the woods. They aren't pleasant for sure! We lost 2 barns, the roof off a worker's house and hundreds of trees in Cyclone Bola in 1988.

no problem ATO2, i shall endeavour to update NZ Weather with many more maps this summer, another typhoon is expected to develop over the NW Pacific later this week. More on that as the developments take shape.

United Nations is warning of another cyclone forming which may affect Burma, it is uncertain how strong it will be. Latest information suggest that it could reach a Category 3, shall have to see how it develops.
