It is currently classified as a Category 2 tropical storm, after being downgraded from a Category 3, with winds of up to 54mph reported so far. Very interesting. We get cyclones here in NZ, from time to time, or is it ex-tropical depressions- whatever- anyway they can be so destructive, especially in high density population areas such as tropical lowlands.

Over the last 24 hours it has strengthened and has therefore been classified as a Category 3 tropical storm, with winds of up to 92mph reported so far. Its forecast track is shown in the attached map, between 12GMT Fri 09 May 2008 (when the latest information was available), and 12GMT Tue 13 May 2008.

Rammasun:
Typhoon Rammasun is currently situated in the northwest Pacific, at latitude 30, longitude 139. The typhoon has been downgraded to a Category 1 typhoon, although winds of up to 149mph have been reported, and gusts up to 190mph, but in the last day or so it has weakened substantially as it moves over much cooler waters to the southeast of Japan. Its forecast track is shown in the attached map, between 12GMT Mon 12 May 2008 (when the latest information was available), and 00GMT Wed 14 May 2008, when it is expected to be downgraded to a tropical depression.

It's now in JPEG format ATO2, is it any better? The quality i admit is poorer in JPEG compared to PNG

Yes, thanks, virtually instant.Broadband in this country is a pain! I live 1200 metres from the exchange but it is almost narrowband at times.
