Big Weather Bigger Hit Rate

Well it only takes a little bit of bad weather to spike the traffic on the weather site.

My numbers are not big but boy do I notice the spike it is bad weather.

All my IPs are excluded from this as are clientrwaw*.* requests

Re: Big Weather Bigger Hit Rate

You are not the only one to get big hits. NZWeather coped really well with the extra traffic.

We normally average 2 new members a day, on the 25th we had 56 and yesterday we had 37. Daily average member visits has gone from 25 to 93 on Friday - I'm still waiting for the sat report for Saturday. We are also currently sitting at number 5 ranking at Traceics.co.nz - News and Media which is our highest ever position

We also noticed a big spike. Normally our site averages between 30 - 40 hits per day. Yesterday it topped out at 413!

Our IP was also excluded.

Re: Big Weather Bigger Hit Rate

The thing with my increase is my link to the server is a HSL not exactly big and it has to be shared with my other activities. Coped well and the CPU and Memeory grphs hardly lifted passed 5% so I have capacity on the server to spare, bandwidth coped but the hits (especially revisits) gave it a fright at times and I hit 75%

If I'm reading it right, it's now sitting at Number 1

Ah, #5 in General, #1 in Media
