Are we being ripped?

I have a hankering to have a Davis Vantage Pro model 6162c with a USB weather link. (Includes UV and Solar sensors)

Okay best NZ Price is $2216 inc GST.

Digging around found a US company same item US$760.15 and that includes freight to NZ now that translates to about NZ$1002 and if (it is an if) you get nailed for GST it adds another $125 making $1127 a big difference to the local price.

Now I like cabled, Wireless is never really a great option so I have no issues with US Frequency's etc I guess I will be ordering from the US when her indoors who must be obeyed lets me spend the money.

I to imported my Davis from the US and I've had no problems. Yes there is a huge price difference, I would have never been able to afford it if I hadn't brought from the US. I have a 6163 (wireless) with an extra soil moisture temperature station and it's great.

I bought my Davis mailorder from the US. No real problems but be aware that because of the value you will need to register yourself as an importer of not already registered. Obviously doesn't apply if you bring a unit back on your travels.
I have had a couple of outside temp sensors replaced under warranty. Make sure whoever you do buy from will support the unit in the event of problems. I used WeatherBuffs.com and would recommend them for their post sale support.

I couldnt find the 6162c Pro+ on their site just the 6152c pro

Seem to be the best value but remember that you need a logger to connect to your PC US $117.00 extra they will put it in the same box for freight which is US$150.00 so it mounts up

My price includes logger (usb) and all, it pays to shop around.
