You enjoy that novelty! In the meantime it has become nice and sunny here, despite my earlier remarks!
Re sunshine hrs: nothing remarkable for totals MTD- it is around the norm but Wednesday had 8.9 hrs of bright sunshine and the day before, I think it was, had 8.4 hrs.

Tokoroa - 10:20 Friday 8th
Overnight Low last night: 7.0ºC @ 3:50am
Current temp: 11.1ºC @ 10:00
Dew Point:10.3ºC @ 10:00
Humidity: 95%, overcast skies, damp
Rainfall 7th: 5.7mm None today since 9am.
Wind gust: 13.4kts (24.8km/hr @ 09:11)
Max 1m Ave: 11.1kts (20.4km/hr (09:11)
Current 10min ave = 4.9kts (9.1km/hr).
Wind Dircn: NNW
Sky Condition - fully overcast
Visibility: 1km
Baro: 1009.5; -3.1hPa /6hrs, steadily falling.

Ok ATO2 - you can have our sunshine, but we will remember... LOL And wet in Wellington too as the fronts move through.

The wind values are alomost double what they were yesterday as I overwrite the data in a spreadsheet kept from the day before... and not likely to improve until tomorrow after noon and then nice days on Sunday and Monday.

I looked at the graphical weather display my forecasting program gives, and noted that the rain was supposed to hit after midnight last night and the timing was spot on... GFS does get it right within 36 hrs 99% of the time...

Re: Weather reports for August 8th, 2008

57mm to 9am y'day. YTD surplus is now a massive 262mm. Everthing is sopping, banks still trickling water on the 2 consecutive sunny days we had midweek. Hokitika is geared to high rainfall (sandy soils, large drains, no banks to produce slips), but we aren't.

Re: Weather reports for August 8th, 2008

Just 6mm yesterday and 7mm so far today. getting colder though and still damp tomorrow. Off to the warm lounge and watch some useless melodramatic tv or the Chiefs match which seems uninspiring to me tonight. Have daughter home from university with the flu, the two girsl get on well!

Cloudy but dry early morning, but otherwise showery with some hail and sleet in afternoon.

Re: Weather reports for August 8th, 2008

Was quite warm- got 16 degrees but the wind came up early evening and that was a shock.
Our July monthly total was around double the norm but YTD it is slightly below.
