You can knock 10C off that in CHCH. Currently 7.6C at 2:00pm, having peaked at 8.5C. It's heavy overcast with a light SW flow and 2.6mm of rain so far today, but the cloud base appears to slowly lifting.

Yes the Satellite cloud shot appears to be thinning now for you as that 1036 High moves closer to you, there is this band of clearer sky probably overnight and clouding over again midday tomorrow - you might have some cooler overnight temps. Just what you wanted! Not sure what the winds are going to do - that looks like a lottery!

Still wet, still raining, still cold (hasn't gone over 8 degrees here in Avalon all day), good day for watching a video which I did (Love Actually) and having hot mushroom soup and freshly baked home-made bread for lunch which we did.

It has cooled down now and a light drizzle materialised!

Re: Weather reports for September 5th, 2008

Been a lovely day here today - warm and fine, but this morning's walk showed just how wet it has been - after ploughing through muddy paddocks my formerly white socks were now almost as black as my shoes!! :D

No red stuff - cow poo plus just mud = a black mess!

Storm Re: Weather reports for September 5th, 2008

Clouds climbed and bright Nimbus were generated, forming CB's and then later, lightning and thunder and 3mm of rain quite quickly this afternoon. It did cool off some but hardly any wind at GL. The temp did fall quickly from 15 to 12.5ºC as the rain came - partly because of the black out... LOL Clouds - interesting stuff! Still a mild 11ºC here and dark now. Sheep are bleating - I guess they want some nuts...

Re: Weather reports for September 5th, 2008

Wind came up and it felt cold. Brief drizzle, then it cleared again. Maximum was 16 degrees.

Re: Weather reports for September 5th, 2008

Getting near bedtime and it's cold (7 degrees), still raining, still windy and still miserable.

But on a brighter note I read that from tomorrow about midday the weather will clear and for a short time the bright shiny stuff plus the blue skies along with the warmth will be back however briefly...
