New Plymouth, 8.30am: Cloudy this morning, around 12 or 13 degrees. My neighbour hasn't run the flag up his flagpole so I had to go outside to confirm that there is a light breeze from the SE! (I know, one slept in, one did!)
Forecast maximum has been reduced to 17 degrees, rain later on.
Here is the AWS thing for 6am:

Re: Weather reports for May 9th, 2008

Middle and high cloud, sunny periods but more overcast now. Flat harbour with negligible wind, should get some SE (really diverted E/NE) this evening.

Around 2pm it started to clear up with a little Sun. Very light wind. Cannot see where the updated maximum of 18 degrees is going to come from!
Your harbour will look great with the flat water!

Re: Weather reports for May 9th, 2008

Our harbour looked lovely. It was quite warm in the middle third of the day. Late afternoon, gusty SE with some light to moderate rain, though eased off at present.

Re: Weather reports for May 9th, 2008

I was at home most of the day. It went dark late afternoon and I ended up lighting a fire, now the house is too hot!
I see TV1 talked about a "mega trough" on its weather forecast this evening and warnings of 25mm an hour for somewhere where none of my own family lives!

Re: Weather reports for May 9th, 2008

Hazy sunshine to start the day, cloud tended to turn the sunshine milky mid-morning, but by lunchtime the cloud cleared and glorious sunshine made it feel very warm. Turned increasingly humid during the day, with high cloud developing, saw some convective cloud developing but that cleared as the sun turned completely milky. Headache came on very late afternoon and at the same time a violent thunderstorm exploded NW of London. Lasted about 2.5-3 hours, is now dying away. Still very warm and muggy out there at the moment.
Thunderstorm score still on 1 so far this year Tom (5 months!! Where have they gone?)

Observations: High cloud has dispersed, allowing some very pastel blue sky visible, sun set in last 20mins, turning dark. Very muggy and humid and much warmer than this time last night. Chance of an isolated storm overnight moving up from France, not thought to be likely though. Headache cleared
