Re: Weather reports for June 16th, 2008

Thick fog and hill mist here this morning, with airport disruption. Interesting transition from warm sunny WNW yesterday to a calm clear sunset with a noticeable rise in dampness, to this am. Looks like classic advection fog with a steady SE drift across Obs./Cable car upper terminus areas. Some bright sunshine breaking through now in parts, esp. in the west. I think it will all be gone by noon or soon after.

Saturday night's min. was 12.8C, record high as noted before was 14.0.

Re: Weather reports for June 16th, 2008

The day is getting nicer by the hour- around 18 degrees, lovely sunshine, great to be outside again!
I suspect some cloud will arrive a little later though.
I wanted the figures for the city reporting station for the past 24 hrs, so I can continue my informal comparisions with the AWS but it's NA, drat it.
BTW Saturday's minimum was 12.5 degrees C at the AWS here.

Tokoroa - changeable day here, mild this morning - a low of about 10.8 with 13.6 by 9am. It cleared and became very promising with light high cloud and then it clouded over, fully overcast and just started raining - I guess the drizzle finally got measured by 13:00. Rose to 15.6 and now 14.4. SE last 24hrs.

Lovely afternoon after 11.15 fog clearance from the city, may have been a bit later in outer harbour and airport. Still feels nothing like winter.

Re: Weather reports for June 16th, 2008

Just as your afternoon went well, myne became dark and threatening. A few spits of rain and then by 2pm the Sun had gone. Not much wind, though and it remained warm- up to about 18 degrees. By 4pm it had become very dark with light rain.

A great day here with a month high of 20.1 deg. Very little breeze and sun all day. No sign of the fog that caused problems for Wellington airport this morning.
