Re: Weather Reports for June 19th, 2008

Cool clear sky this morning, recorded low of +0.2ºC but a little frost on the ground everywhere, slight southerly breeze just starting. Cool ride to work on the 14 speed...

Some passing cloud from NNW, should largely break up soon I would guess.

I was too optimistic - NOAA midmorning satellite pic. shows a classic "hook" of cloud with the return flow past the Bight and through the Strait. Cloudy with the odd peep of sun and fresh NNW, far SE area may be doing better.

HAHA! The wind has turned - advection maybe? Was SSE now NNW :D Temp up to 12.3 - the max so far and as the wind stilled, it turned and picked up from the opposite direction! Lightly gusting to 16kms, barometer now turned and down from 1036.3 to 1034.6. Still beautiful with blue sky!!

Yes, I see what you mean. It has warmed up to around 14 degrees now and nice working outside in the Sun. Around noon the light seemed slightly "orangish" if that makes sense- there was thin cloud across the mid northern sky where the Sun was and it was annoying to work in. Couldn't see any local smoke to cause the colouration.(Bear in mind, this is my impression of the light quality, not something I was able to measure.)
And no- I did not drink before starting work! LOL

Re: Weather Reports for June 19th, 2008

Started cloudy and drizzly as cold front pushed through. Left house around 7.20am to walk to bus stop and out of nowhere it dropped it down! Torrential rain for about 4-5 mins, then turned to drizzle again. Boarded bus around 7.35, got off at 8.05 and the sun was out, the clouds were well broken and the ground was almost dry - and i seemed to be the only person soaked
But since then it has been a fantastic day, lengthy sunny spells, lots of cloud bubbling up but with a strong and gusty wind these moved pretty quick and it remained dry since 7.30. Clouds have dispersed pretty quickly this evening with a lovely orange and yellow sunset just passed, reflecting some nice colours on the above clouds. Quite warm in the sun, uncomfortably in a suit, but with the strong wind it made it feel quite pleasant tbh. A lovely typical British day.
