Smile Weather Reports for June 20th, 2008

New Plymouth, 7.30am: Waiting for the Sun to rise. 7 degrees, very light SELy. Mountain is clear, some high cloud across about half of the sky.
One must make the most of the High pressure system...

Low Re: Weather Reports for June 20th, 2008

Another crisp frosty morning - I think I need a grass temp sensor! Recorded low of -0.1 but a good white show in the fields. Winds are light SSE gusting to only 10km/hr. Beautiful clear blue sky, typical volcanic plateau winter style! Missed a photo opportunity...

Some passing clouds, but should get a good quota of sun today. Yesterday didn't work out, with the "hook" persisting.

The Sun is action here now. Wednesday produced 9.1 hrs of sunshine. MTD is around average.

Re: Weather Reports for June 20th, 2008

We've had 83.9 in 18 days, well above average. Y'day would have added little but if next week's events are of a SSW/SW rather than S/SE nature (my pick) then we should get a further boost as compensation for any cold.

Today is definitely brighter - if it stays that way the reason will probably be the shape-shift in the anticyclone inhibiting too much moist return flow past here.

74.1 hrs to the 18th. YTD should be around 1200 hrs by the end of today.
Grant's awful weather of next week should be a dent in any great increase, perhaps?
LOL

Re: Weather Reports for June 20th, 2008

Still a fair bit of cloud around - the "hook" is still clearly visible in the satellite view at 9:42.

If next week's flavour is SW/SSW, I expect NP will suffer more sunshine slowdown - we would be better off. But if it's SE/SSE (don't think so), change script.

Re: Weather Reports for June 20th, 2008

Christchurch airport announced delays due to fog this morning. Looks like the ice caught a few motorists out too.
