Well, here we are at Solstice time. 7 degrees at 7.45am. Nice sunrise, though some high cloud around. Almost dead calm. Excellent visibility over the sea, to the north. Mountain clear.

I think you are right, Luap...NZ could be in for some interesting stuff in a day or two- though I don't know if it will affect you or me that much

The day is lovely and sunny now. Hard to believe that we have a heavy rain warning for tomorrow!

Finally broke out of the "hook" cloud formation, bright and sunny with just a few passing clouds. Often the kind of improvement that occurs between stable anticyclonic conditions and any deterioration.

Like the calm before the storm...

Tokoroa
Low here overnight was 5.3 at 7:30am and a peak of 13.9ºC at midday in variable skies. But as you say, the wind has dropped and the sky has cleared with a thin high scattered cloud layer.

Baro is dropping steadily - 2.2hPa in last 3 hrs; 1021.3 here now.

Peaceful - just shifted two heaps of split firewood closer to the house - under cover. Now to get the fire lit, and get settled for the evening...
