Here we go...variable, very much so! WNW, gusting to 50 km/h in some places. Sunshine, rain, light hail, sun etc.

Far better than yesterday. I suspect it has gone more W or even WSW at this point as the wind is not very strong yet and skies are competely clear, and NOAA shows some sheltering as far around as about Wanganui.
Good for my overdue uphill walk.

Sun all day, my front porch felt quite hot for a time this afternoon. MTD should be about 110 hrs to 26th, a little above average, but the last 4 may add very little judging by the forecast.

OK: Airport AWS: 50 km/h W. 14 degrees.
Cape Egmont: 50 km/h SW, gusting to 62 km/h
New Plymouth Wastewater: 23 km/h SW, gusting to 46 km/h

Sounds like you had the pick of the weather.
Turned out warm for a while from 11am to about 3pm.
Sunshine: MTD(24th) 95.9 hrs, close to average. YTD 1213.7 hrs.
Rainfall: MTD: 121mm (slightly above average), YTD: 545mm (130mm below av)

Fresh breeze here all day. Lots of sun, cloudless all day. Cool temp though max of 13 deg but with wind chill around 9.
Very nice if out of wind!
