Re: Weather reports for July 4th, 2008

Same here, still only 7.3deg at home and zero wind but it is still showing from the north as it has been for the last three days. A quirk of the landscape and advection I guess. That's probably why I have had more rain than the other 2 stations here in town which are 1 - 2miles further south beyond a small hill. The few clouds are definitely moving to the south overhead. The two cameras often show totally different skies, one has clouds to the north, the other perfect blue sky! No fog at all despite the Wx Stn logic based on humidity and woind speed and temperature, haha! Methinks my humidity sensor has been showing a little too high perhaps lately anyway.

Baro has risen 4hPa in 12hrs, now stationary at 1012.

WNW strengthening now, feels colder than typically for that direction. Still mainly sunny with a bit of middle and high cloud passing through.

The day has become really pleasant outside. Mountain is mostly clouded but I can see clumps of snow around 3,000 feet

Re: Weather reports for July 4th, 2008

Deterioration after 12, in the north at first but then showers widespread. After a partial lull heavy showers with some hail swept over the city about 2.45. On and off since then. Visibility rather poor in the showery periods.

Mostly cloudy with high cloud in Chch today and some light rain in early and midafternoon. Cleared up late afternoon for a while, but raining now. Rather cold day - up to about 9-10C.

Had a trip up to Waiuku today. Not thrilled with your weather there Brian! Much the same all the way up and back again, cold squally showers, but the further north we went, the colder it got. Cold back at home again though now although no real rain yet.

Re: Weather reports for July 4th, 2008

Went to visit a Uni Open Day yesterday some 160 miles away, it was clear blue skies all the way there, all day there and most of the journey back. About 30-40miles away from home, high cloud started moving in ahead of an occlusion which has now passed today. Very warm in the sun and a gentle breeze yesterday, car read 23C at one point, but much colder on the coastline i visited in the evening, brisk winds made it feel quite chilly.
