Re: Thunderstorm and convective reports 19th July 2008

Sat - 10:30am - Two thunderclaps heard, and then a third after a brief flash of lightning. Cloud layer is low, there was an 11 sec delay before the thunder which reverbrated for some 20 secs but not a loud clap. Seems 1.5 miles away say 2.5kms. Frequent heavy showers of rain coming over. Heaviest rate was 88mm/hr.

Re: Thunderstorm and convective reports 19th July 2008

Plenty to report: the afternoon remained quite warm, calm but with increasing dark cloud. We went to see a movie at our local Cinema 5 at 6pm. Anyway, around half way through, I could have sworn that I could hear rain and thunder! Then the movie stopped! The emergency lights went on and the manager came through to tell us that an electrical storm had cut power and there would be a short wait!
Anyway, after five minutes all was well.
