I think yes. Each month we get more direct evidence that the planet Mars once had considerable bodies of water. It now becomes a very reasonable activity to actively explore for possible fossil remains of life.
As for current life- that is much more speculative.

BTW, NASA cuts now mean one of the rovers will park up!
