Cool Weather reports for Mars, Sol 1: Phoenix

This I could not resist: it is from the Phoenix Lander.
Skies were clear and sunny on Sol 1 on Mars. The temperature varied between minus 112 degrees Fahrenheit in the early morning and minus 22 degrees Fahrenheit in the afternoon. The average pressure was 8.55 millibars.
It is late Northern Hemisphere Spring there at around 68 degrees North. [I think that is -80 C to -30 C- damnable cold, anyway!]

Re: Weather reports for Mars, Sol 1: Phoenix

Sorted the temps: Phoenix has a met station aboard and that is run by the Canadian Space Agency. NASA posts temps in F, so will use Canadian site direct. The forecast of Martian weather is very important and I think we may soon see some direct forecasts.
(Star Trek stuff!)

That sure is a cold planet ATO2

In Star Trek Earth is also known as Sol or Sol lll, Moon as Sol llla and Mars as Sol lV.

Earth is located in the middle of the Alpha/Beta Quadrant border. Sectors 001, 004, 006 and 008 surround it.

Re: Weather reports for Mars, Sol 1: Phoenix

More stuff: reports for the second day, Sol 2, are not available as the satellite that relays Phoenix's data back to Earth went into safe mode. CSA says they will be back with the weather tomorrow.
That's life, Jim, the way we have come to know it. (To paraphrase a well remembered expression)LOL
