Post Weather Display Trial

I downloaded a trial of Weather Display yesterday. I was a strong VWS supporter while in the UK, so this is a big step for me - lol, but I must support Kiwi products

I'm stationless atm, as I sold my equipment before moving over, so nothing too complex. However, I look forward to the next 30 days to see whats on offer and I'm sure I will have some questions to ask along the way.

Re: Weather Display Trial

I'll keep an eye on this but you will probably want to establish a php site and there is a fast update (5sec if you wish) for them or WDLive! which has the similar refresh rate depending on the clientraw.txt updates, however the php sites or Ajax coded sites are very flexible and allow someone with programming skills (or not) to develope a site from a template. I think there is a demo one in the software. I need to get one with that style sometime shortly too. There is a lot of coding help on the Weather-Watch.com forum in certain boards too. Ken True is one of the masters.

The one thing that is very flexible with WD is the NOAA and Climate data tables that are created, ( [View] - [NOAA..?] {top left} ) and the ability to repair the ascii logfile .txt and update the digital datafile .inf . I could send you some files so that you can play with it I guess...

What did you go for in the end?

I tried both VWS and WD when I first had my station last Christmas. I went for VWS because I thought it would be easier for a beginner, I now regret that decision. I had my OS WMR200 station in October of this year and soon realised that the VWS user manual made no reference to my station, and still doesn't. I have been informed by Ambient that it will be sometime next year before the 200 is included.

Can't blame you going for the Davis, I would next time. Having said that the WMR200 is far superior than the 100. I think you may remember the computer connection problems I was having with the 100, Oregon probably only gave me the 200 to stop me moaning.
