Re: New Station Equipment (Budget)

Well I have given the Fine Offset cheapy station a fair work out. Found some cute software for use with it.

The cons
1. The wind vane is not very effect swinging much more widely than my La Crosse unit
2. The rain guage gives me almost double the reading of my La Crosse so now I need to get a manual gauge and check which one is right.

The general accuracy while not excellent is acceptable.

Blogging and Blogging for the pages.

Re: New Station Equipment (Budget)

the WH1081 rain gauge is the smallest I have seen for a electronic weather station, and so that will not help with the accuracy I would think

Indeed it is small, but its size I would have tought would make it more likely to read under than over. It is different by almost a factor of two compared to my other gauge. I have never checked the accuracy of the La Crosse so I will get a manual gauge and do a check against them both. Now where do I get a good manual gauge?

Re: New Station Equipment (Budget)

for a manual gauge, bigger the better...those Nylex gauges, where the measuring tube is inside the outer container is best, instead of a wedge.,..

Re: New Station Equipment (Budget)

I have a nylex gauge like the one in the link windy posted. I got mine from here: weatherdata.co.nz : Nylex 1000

You'll save you a couple a bucks if you get it from here

Re: New Station Equipment (Budget)

Nylex 1000 looks like the beast for me, isn't going to brake the bank either.
Her indoors "who must be obeyed" will not be impressed with another post in the back yard to accommodate it.
Now the issue is daily reading time, since I am not generally here at 9am each day (Quite in the cheap seats TokWW)
