Ah, that should be interesting. After last year being such a washout, will be nice to get some decent weather :(

For Waikato they are saying cloudy with occasional showers and light winds, a high of 20deg. 35% likelihood of rain. But this may change... :(

Looks like it may be unsettled in the north with a northerly flow....but this being 8 days away is bound to change somewhat

Im not holding my breath either. Will plan on eating in and also eating outside and that will be decided on Christmas morning. Bit hard to order fresh peas too owing to the weather they have had.

Well the metservice 7 day model is going up to 7am Christmas Day now, looks like a nice warm day for the North Island along with the north and east of the South Island. May be unsettled along the West Coast region, Fiordland and the deep south.

This still may change, but I am following with interest....:(

Well Christmas Day has just appeared on the GFS run that I use. Looks good for the north, and deteriorating as you go down south.

Well, that doesn't look too bad for me. Met Service is still saying showers for Christmas Day, but clearing, with a high of 22 degrees.

From the "current" forecast - showers and SW winds for Auckland from Wed - Fri.

I bet it'll end up fine and sunny whilst Sydney gets pounded by showers :(

I like the look of the temperatures especially minimums.

Still looks OK Grant but with the rain coming the next day - which will be good - keeping fingers crossed owing to prefer eating outside. Less hassle.

Looking blimmin' fantastic for the north on Christmas Day in the latest model forecasts, an anticyclone with 1030hpa pressures and winds with a northerly aspect - spells out a very warm day, especially for inland areas. I hope this feature remains in the models....

Yep, the north is looking really good. In contrast though it could all go belly up for the south, very easily, with a low bringing in heavy rain and strong winds. Hopefully the high pressure will be enough to squeeze out the 964 hpa southern ocean low that catches the tip of South Island

Sth Waikato - Yes - almost a total flip-flop. Sunny day with a modest high of 22ºC and light nor-westers/west-nor-west here, knowing the advective shift in our region. I am picking the temp to go much higher, after a clear night sky, clear day with weak cumulus humilus around... A nice day - perhaps too much sun and time for a siesta break mid afternoon!!

OK, so where did all the cloud come from? I hope this latest GFS run changes, but things still look good temperature wise.

Oh no I hope that anticyclone doesn't turn out be to a "dirty anticyclone".
Anticyclonic gloom is more common in the cooler months, and in general morning clouds under an anticyclone often burn off or break up at this time of year

Well my WXSIM is still saying sunny for so I am very happy :feedback: and a fairly high temp of 27°C expected at this stage.
If you have the $ to buy WXSIM, do so it will give ya free forecasts for life!!!!!! (and quite accurate 1s too)
What i couldn't believe is that it out forecasts M/S.
