If you find WXSIM is putting out too much fog, you may want to do this:

I have turned it down to here, as it started outputting fog nearly everyday, which did not happen.

I saw Rolleston site had fog this morning and you reported the same and forecast was for some too. Your daytime temps are way higher already than any forecast. IS this just the weather or is it the installation or the equipment? Perhaps it is hot down there... :) At least the winds were forecast correctly, although with the easterly weather of recent, it would have been hard to get that wrong!

no, we got fog this morning, so that part of the forecast was accurate, as was the low temp. Might fine tune things after a little while, once I've worked out how accurate the basic settings are.

I seem to be getting a temp spike from something. I need to look at the device during the time of day that its doing it, to work out what is going on. I tried an temporary adjustment on the cover today but it may have fallen off.

uhm... I know you were taking the mickey Graeme, with the temps and forecasts being way off while the product is still in beta and effectively not advertised on my site, but did you take a look at the Thursday forecast for thunderstorms that was issued on Tuesday ??? http://www.nzweather...dpost__p__49361

No mention by Metservice of any activity at that point in the week and certainly they didn't forecast anything. Now all of a sudden they have a thunderstorm warning in operation ;)

I know WXSIM is very very good at pointing those things out b4 hand :D
If you find the temperatures to be a little outrageous (which they shouldn't be) you can get WRET to give you a offset as this will look into your WD files and plot out the differences between your actual temp and your forecasted temp.
But thats in the pro version only ;)

When my software was delivered it came with Scobbs contact details as he has been having a +-5C temp issue. Its location specific but when I get sorted out hopefully we can take a look at it. I was also getting a spike in temps around lunchtime on 2 days, but no idea why as the unit was still in shade. It could be real, but I wasn't home to check the cross calibration with the manual thermometer.

Grant - re the temp issue - I was looking at your profile banner temp at the time indicating 27.3 or something and your forecast was saying 21 or 22deg - I can't remember, but it was interesting to note. Sometimes the weather does beat the forecast systems!! Yes I was reading the discrepancies Simon was having with Wxsim not forecasting correctly with NE damp weather with much cooler actual temps than forecast. I suggested it may be due to the very cold sea currents the air is passing over from the Pacific. The effects will be the same for you too.

Graeme

Since tuesday night WXSIM has been forecasting 28C for Saturday. This has been consisitent, with the Wednesday morning, Wednesday night and the Thursday morning forecasts all having the same results. Until today, MetService was forecasting 21C, so there was quite a descrepancy. Today MS changed their site to forecast 27C
