Wellington power outage, lightning on video

Hi, I'm not sure if this is the right spot to post this, but I'll give it a shot, I'll refer to a another thread on this forum about the power cut that happened in the Wellington a couple of weeks ago here , I'm in Porirua and was up at the time the power went out, I went to a window in my house to see how widespread the power was out and saw a flash of lightning, I quickly got my camera just incase there was more and I caught one of the strikes on video.

I made a video and uploaded it to a site called Revver, I also slowed down the footage a few times for better analysis.

Hi Randlet,

You've got some pretty good footage three, nicely captured and not even over exposed. A common problem with close strikes as a reflection in the CCD which makes it look closer than it is - you've avoided that too - some great footage!

Funny thing is, I almost deleted it from the memory card, I thought that I hadn't caught any of the lightning, good thing I had second thoughts.

Best thing I've ever recorded, I'm a very amateur photographer.

I shot the video with a Fujifilm FinePix s9500 in movie mode with the lower quality setting.
