Angry Awanui River Algae Warning
A blue-green algae bloom in sewage treatment ponds at Kaitaia could pose health risks to people and stock for the second time this year. The Far North District Council is advising farmers not to take water for stock from the Awanui River downstream from the ponds, which discharge into the river after treatment.
